First Due House Fire w/ Entrapment

On Wendsday evening Manheim Township Fire Rescue as well as Companies 6-7, 6-6, 2-3, and 6-3 were dispatched to 102 West Roseville Rd. for a reported house fire. Squad 2-4 was in the area and arrive on scene with a working fire on the alpha/delta sides of the building.  Chief 2-11 arrived and established Command 2-11.  Neighbors began reporting to Command that their was an elderly women who lived in the residence.  Engine 2-11-3 arrived on scene with Squad 2-11-1 and assisted Truck 2-4 and Truck 6-7 with a primary search.  One female occupant was found in her bathroom on the first floor and exticated and turned over to EMS for treatment.  The fire was quickly extinguished and units stayed on scene to help with overhaul and lighting for investigation.

Vehcial Accident Standby Upgraded to Entrapment

While crews were out doing RIT training with Companies 2-4 and 6-4, Rescue 211 was dispatched to 1525 Manheim Pike for a Vehical Accident Standby.  While enroute Chief 20 advised incoming units of 3 people stuck in the car.  R2-11 arrived to find a single car over the egde of an embankment being held by a telephone pole.  Crews from 2-11 quickly secured the car using cribbing and the winch.  Capt. McCardell and Firefighter Migdal extricated the patients for the driver side of the vehical.  Hazards were neutralized and all crews went available a short time later.


 
   
   
Vehicle On Its Side

Crews from 2-11 and 2-3 were dispatched to 1500 Manheim Pike for a Vehicle Accident w/ Entrapment. Deputy 2-3 arrived to find a vehicle on it's side with all occupants out of the vehicle.  Rescue 2-11 arrived and incident was held to R2-11.  R2-11 crew cleared the roadway of debis and fluids and retured back to service a short time later.

Congratulations to members Kristen Memmo and Capt. Kenny McCardell on the birth of their son!  Brennan Ryder was born at 12:35 am on October 18 at Womens and Babies hospital.  Brennan was 7.5 lbs and 19.25 inches.  Mother and son are both doing great.


 
Rescue Co. Extricates two on Rt 30

Shortly before 0900 hrs Rescue 2-11 was dispatched to Rt 30 westbound at Rt 741 along with E6-7-1 and R2-3 for a reported vehicle accident with possible entrapment. PD arrived on scene and confirmed two people trapped inside. R2-11 was first arriving unit and went in service with the Holmatro rescue tools and also pulled a hand line for fire suppression. Crews quickly extricated the driver with a door pop, and began extrication of the passenger who was more heavily entrapped and in critical condition. Crews from R2-3 and E6-7-1 assisted R2-11 with removing the roof and patient packaging and removal. Both Patients were extricated in under 19 minutes.

Engine Due on 2-7 Barn Fire

Engine 2-11-3 was alerted to 3167 Kissel Hill Rd to assist company 2-7 with a reported barn fire. E2-11-3, Chief 2-11(Tshudy) and Captain 2-11(Mccardell) arrived on location with a fully involved barn. E2-11-3 was assigned to water supply and Chief 2-11 and Captain 2-11 were assigned to command staff functions. E2-11-3 filled approximately 15 tankers.

Engine Co due on East Petersburg Garage Fire

Engine 2-11-3 was alerted to 1967 Linden St in East Petersburg for a reported garage fire. Deputy 2-3 (Schoenberger) arrived on location with heavy smoke showing from a two story garage with an apartment on the second floor. Engine 2-11-3 was the first arriving engine and laid in from the hydrant and began an interior attack. Crews found heavy fire on the first and second floors. Crews put a knock on the first floor but were pulled out by command due to changing exterior conditions. Crews backed out and switched to a defensive operations. Engine 2-11-3 along with other MTFR units operated on scene for about two hours then cleared. 


 
   
   
Alcoa Building

Today Station 211 was dispatched to 1480 Manheim Pike for a reported building fire at Alcoa. Engine 2-11-3 arrived on location and advised of a light smoke condition outside the building. Crews were  met by the Alcoa Fire Brigade Chief who advised  that molten metal had been spilled on the ground.  The spill was contained but the facility was filled with smoke. Crews from 2-11, 6-4, 6-6, 2-4, 2-7, 6-7, 2-9, 6-3, 2-10, and 2-3 assisted with ventilation and the removal of the metal. Crews operated on scene for approx 4 hours.  Thank you to all companies who assisted on the call.


 
   
   
Accident with Confinement in the First Due

At 1959 Hrs Station 2-11 was dispatched to 46 Danbury Dr. for an Accident with entrapment. Rescue 2-11, Engine 2-11-3 and Chief 2-11(Tshudy) went responding with a total of 9 personnel. R2-11 arrived on location with one car overturned with one still in the car. Crews from Rescue 2-11, Engine 2-11-3, and EMS stabilized and extricated one elderly male who was trapped up side down by his seat belt. Pt was not injured, just couldn't get out. Units operated on scene for approx. 45 min.
